Richard A. “Rich” Rottman, 81, of Butler, went to be with the Lord Monday evening, February 2, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born in Hillville, Armstrong County, PA, on April 4, 1944. He was the son of the late Henry and Wilda Berkhouse Rottman.
He was a 1962 graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School. Rich was a skilled bus mechanic working for more than 55 years at several local bus companies. He also worked occasionally as a bus driver and retired from A.J. Myers in Harmony. Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing, gambling, bluegrass music, and camping in Sigel, where he fed the bears from his hand. He enjoyed the company of his faithful companion, a Yorkiepoo, “Babe”.
In his earlier years, he was a member of the Unionville Fire Department and served the department as an EMT on their ambulance crew. Throughout the years, Rich earned continuing education professional certificates in mechanics and fire training. He was a social member of the Evans City VFW and the Marienville Vets Club. Rich was a well-known regular at Michaels Restaurant in Prospect for supper.
He is survived by two children, Randy Rottman and his wife, Anna, and Diana Berry and her husband, Gregg, all of Chicora; four grandchildren, Rachell Rottman and her fiancé, Adam Rohler of Chicora, Leah Rottman of Austintown, OH, Zane Rottman and his fiancée, Kamryn Albert of Chicora, and Emily Berry (Cole) of Chicora; a great granddaughter, Presley Albert and Mr. Rottman was looking forward to the birth of his second great granddaughter in June. His siblings survive, James Rottman and his wife, Wanda of Chicora, Lois Hamilton and her husband, Jesse of Elkhart, IN, and Frank Rottman and his wife, Linda of Karns City; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Benscoter Rottman, whom he married in Chicora on March 19, 1999. Mrs. Rottman preceded him in death on October 2, 2002. He was additionally preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Harvey Rottman.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd. Chicora from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 4. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Olkowski, pastor of the Zion Church of Petroleum Valley, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Chestnut Cemetery.
