Splash Park Project Phase III of Hughes Park Renovation

Artist rendition of splash park slated for Emlenton.

Funding for Ammentities Sought

Something new is happening at the old swimming pool in Emlenton. Phase II of the Hughes Park Renovation Plan will soon begin construction with renovations to the bath house to include new plumbing, electric, and updated and handicap accessible restrooms. Also, a walkway from Hughes Park to the Pool House will provide handicap accessibility from the park area. The new restrooms will be available to the entire recreation area eliminating the need for port a potty at the park and baseball field. Funding for this phase was secured through Venango County CDBG grants and matched with DCNR monies.

Phase III is to construct a splash park for summertime water fun. Emlenton Borough Council contributed $100,000 from the sale of the Emlenton Area Municipal Authority. DCNR matched the funding and due the rising construction costs contributed additional funding and Venango County CDBG grant also provided additional funding. The total cost of both phases is $420,000. All this is a great addition to Emlenton and the surrounding communities.

Herbert, Rowland, and Grubic, an Engineering firm, located in Cranberry Township designed the Splash Park using a colorful eye-catching sports theme.

At this time the Splash Park Area needs funding for benches, tables, and trash receptacles. If any person, organization or business interested in donating funds for these needs items or has questions, please contact Amy Whitehill at the borough office 724-867-8611 or email emlentonoffice@gmail.com. The-benches and tables can be memorialized if desired.
