Interpretive tour of the Fire Tower and Seneca Point
Friday, July 31 at 10 pm - ‘Fire Tower/Seneca Point Historical Tour’. Please bring your binoculars and meet at the Fire Tower Parking Lot for an historical interpretive tour of the Fire Tower and Seneca Point by DCNR Conservation Volunteer, Greg Burns.
Learn about local logging history, observe Indian sign, and take a breathtaking view from the top of the Fire Tower. (1.5 hrs)
America’s 250 Living History Cast Iron Cooking
Saturday, September 19, 2026, 11:00 AM—3:00 PM
Come celebrate America’s 250th birthday as you walk back in time to observe, and possibly sample, historical cast iron cooking from our nation’s past. State Park educators from North Central and Western PA will be dressed in period clothing preparing period dishes that relate back to their park from our nation’s founding to the late 1800’s. This is a one-time only new park event that you will NOT want to miss!
Located at our River Cabin area, just upstream from our new River Pavilion along River Road about 1 mile up-river from the RT36 Cooksburg Bridge.
Cook Forest Fall Workday

Have you been looking for a way to get involved with Cook Forest State Park? Please consider joining us for the day to help maintain the park through various work projects. Jobs may include trail maintenance, litter pickup, painting, wood stacking, etc. Free camping Friday and/or Saturday nights will be available for volunteers, with prior notice received by 10/5. If you are planning to join us for the day, please contact the Park Office (814)744-8407 at least two weeks in advance so that we can have a volunteer project lined up for you. Lunch provided!
8:00 am – 8: 30 am: meet at Maintenance Complex to receive assigned task
8:30 am – 12:00 pm: complete work projects
12:00 – 12:30 pm: return work gear to Maintenance
12:30 – 1:00 pm: LUNCH & Certificate Ceremony at Shelter #2
